DOUBLE FRAMED ALUMINIUM DOORS
Double Framed Aluminium Doors

Our framed internal aluminium doors are made to measure to suit any opening. For double doors with no fixed panels the max size is 1927mm (width) x 2231mm (height). With all of our aluminium doors you can create them to suit your own style, choose the frame colour, glass finish and bar design.
Features
- Matched pair of fully framed leaves
- Symmetrical centre meeting line or offset
- With or without glazing bars, matched across the pair
- Maximum overall opening: 1927mm x 2231mm (Doors with No Fixed)
Glass
Clear glass is the most popular option as it keeps the open feeling of your space. We can also offer other glass options such as Frosted, which gives the most privacy but still allows light through. Tinted, black or bronze, still fully see through but darkens the site line. Reflex, a tinted option with one side a more reflective finish. Reeded, allows light but adds privacy.
Bespoke
With a pair of doors we can split the opening to create a symetrical set or an offset option can be created, where you have a main door next to a smaller door.
Frame colour, glass finish, bar layout and handle position are specified per order and matched across both leaves.
Template & Install
We check the opening width at head, mid and floor, and the floor level across the full span — on a wide opening a small fall shows as an uneven gap along the bottom of both leaves.
Lead time is typically 6-8 weeks from template. Fitting a pair usually takes a full day. Installation across England and Wales.
Where Double Framed Doors Work Best
Double Framed suits wide openings that need to close occasionally rather than constantly:
- Kitchen to dining room — open through the day, closed to keep cooking smells and noise out at night
- Through-lounges in Victorian and Edwardian houses, where the original opening between two reception rooms is already wide
- Living room to conservatory or garden room, keeping heat in without closing off the view
- Broken-plan layouts, where the brief is to divide a large space without building a wall
Where the opening is wider than a comfortable pair, add fixed Aluminium Partitions either side. Where there is no clearance for two leaves to swing, use Sliding Framed.
Frequently Asked Questions
How wide an opening can a pair cover?
Up to 1927 mm overall. Beyond that we would normally add fixed side panels rather than making the leaves wider, because an oversized leaf becomes heavy to swing and more prone to dropping over time.
Do both leaves open, or is one fixed?
Both open, you have an active, main door and a passive, secondary door which is fixed with a top shoot bolt.
Will the glazing bars line up across the two doors?
Yes. Bar layout is set out across the pair as one composition at manufacture, so horizontals run continuously across the meeting line.
What happens if my opening is not square?
Most are not. We template and manufacture to the smallest dimensions, and create the frame to fit the space. Gaps will be sealed.
Double Framed or Double Soft Close?
Framed leaves have a continuous surround on all four sides and fully close into a frame; Soft Close uses a lighter surround for a more minimal look, and have a gap on all sides of the door, due to how the hinges work, this also allows them to open both ways.
