Every glass finish we offer

The glass decides how much light passes through, how much you can see, and how the door reads in the room. Clear glass is chosen for most doors because it keeps the open feel of the space. The other finishes trade a little light for privacy or character. Samples are available at your survey.

Choosing between them

For light

Clear first, then frosted, which lets most light through while hiding the view. Tints cost a little light; fabric costs the most.

For privacy

Frosted or fabric for full privacy. Reeded, fluted and cathedral soften the view without shutting the light out, which is why they are popular on pantry and shower-room doors.

For the look

Grey and bronze tints darken the sight line and suit a darker, more industrial scheme. Wired glass adds an industrial detail on steel. Cathedral suits period homes.

Mixing glass in one door

Glass is chosen per door and can differ across a set, for example clear in the doors and frosted in the fixed side panels. Tell us which rooms the doors serve and we will suggest the right combination.

Fire-rated doors

Fire-rated doors use certified glass, so the choice is narrower than on a standard door. If you need an FD30 door with a particular finish, ask when you request a quote and we will confirm what is available.
