Bespoke Internal Black Steel Doors with Bronze Glass — Wisbech Install
This Wisbech home featured an open-plan layout where the client wanted defined separation between living spaces without losing the flow of light through the property. The brief was to design and install a set of bespoke internal black steel doors with a distinctive bronze-tinted glazing — a darker, warmer alternative to the more common clear or smoked glass, picked specifically to complement the home’s interior palette of warm woods and brushed metal hardware.
All doors were made-to-measure to suit the existing openings to the millimetre, built around our slim black steel frame system. The slim profile keeps the framework visually quiet, letting the glass and the geometry of the bar pattern take the lead. Finish is a hard-wearing matt black powder-coat — crisp, contemporary, and tough enough to take the daily knocks of family life.
The glazing is the standout feature — bronze-tinted toughened glass that warms the light passing through and gives the doors a softer, more grown-up character than clear glass would. It still meets the safety standards required for internal glazing in a residential setting, and it doesn’t dim the view between rooms; it just colours it slightly, like looking through a single layer of stained tea.
Delivery was through our full template & install service. We visited the Wisbech property to template each opening to the millimetre, then manufactured the doors in our workshop and returned for fitting. The full install was completed in two days, with minimal disruption to the household. All hardware (hinges, handles, latches) was matched to the matt black finish to keep the look consistent throughout.
The result is a set of made-to-measure internal steel doors that frame the spaces beautifully — black slim frames, bronze glass, clean lines — adding architectural definition while keeping daylight moving through the home. This project sat in our £4,000–£5,000 price band for the supply and installation across the set.
